  • My favorite organic shampoo is Shea Moisture! All of them! lol I am glad you have it on the list; it makes me feel alot better! I just love that I can pronounce, read, and understand their entire list of ingredients on every bottle! There is never a question of a hidden ingredient. Best of all, unlike other natural/organic hair products, Shea Moisture is inexpensive!! very affordable for someone who is on a tight budget!! thanks for this post!!

    • I have dyed hair and frequently use a flatiron. Most of the time my hair is silky and manageable but I dont like using shampoo/ conditioner with so many toxic chemicals. I tried Acure shampoo and conditioner and hated it. My hair started to break off and frizzed out after the first time. I realize dying my hair isnt that great either but I am not ready to be a gray granma!

  • Hello! Recently, my hair has become very very dry! I am mixed (black/white) with loose curly/wavy hair. Do you have any product recommendations for my hair type?

  • Hi, I’m Asian, with straight, oily hair. Recently my hair has started losing volume drastically. I’d be grateful if you could recommend a hair product for me that are not too harsh on the budget.

    • Hi Hafsa! Try 100% Pure Kelp & Mint Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner, Acure Organics Pure Mint + Echinacea Stem Cell Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner, or Intelligent Nutrients Harmonic Shampoo and Conditioner.

  • I’ve been doing research on more organic stuff, and have been trying to make the switch. I have thick curly hair, and I’ve been using that Dove shampoo for a few years, it’s worked well, but I don’t particularly like the fact that it has bad stuff in it. I don’t really have a clue what what products to pick for my hair now. I want products that will work well for my hair but won’t break the bank either.

    • That’s great Chelsea that you’re making the switch. Start with Acure Organics for your thick curly hair or 100% Pure. Enjoy!

  • Hi. Great discussion and information here. I’ve been doing tons of research for months, and paying crazy amounts of money, just to find the right product for my hair. Like my hair, I’m fizzled :(. I have long, straight, on the thin side of hair. I don’t use products, I don’t get my hair colored. I would just like to find a nice shampoo/conditioner that could keep my hair soft, shiny, and healthy. All these volumizing shampoos make my hair dry, course and brittle. I prefer flat hair if it’s smooth and shiny. Any suggestions for a good shampoo/conditioner to use to for overall health of hair? I love my long hair and would love to make it longer and stronger. Any help would be greatly appreciated! 🙂

  • Thanks for this list! I have been trying Avalon organics shampoo and conditioner which turns out not to be what I was looking for. I have wavy hair I am trying to grow out and really take care of and just want something natural! Trying not to wash as often and my ends can feel dry. Any recs? Thanks!

  • Hi there! I love this list! I have been steadily changing everything in my home to organic alternatives so it’s time for hair/beauty products. I have previously dyed hair that is growing out (red shade) and dirty blonde roots coming in. My hair is oily near the scalp, dry by the ends, and it knots SUPER easy. Do you have any recommendations???

    • Glad to hear Lisa! Try Acure Organics. You’ll definitely see the health of your hair change over time with the right products as well as with healthy eating and exercise habits and lots of water. Enjoy and be beautiful! xx

  • I am Asian and in the early 40s. My hair is long and started coloring for a year and a half now. Since then, my hair has become so dry. I’ve been using Tresemme for color-treated hair. And I am afraid to go back for another coloring eventhough my grey hair is really showing profusely. I need an organic hair shampoo, conditioner plus deep conditioning treatment. What can you recommend?

  • hello, I am looking to switch for better hair health. I’m 50 plus and in the last year my hair has thined out A LOT. it has always been fine baby hair that never holds any style longer than 5 minues no matter how much product is used. Just kind of lays flat on my head and now that its thin much worse.

    I need a change.

  • Hi im asian and i have thick long hair.. Ive dyed them dark blond for nearly a year, its quite damaged and dry (well, always been like that..) i was thinking purchasing eoproduct. I want the most organic products ever especially with avocado! What do u guys suggest me?

  • Hi! What shampoo would you recommend for those with dandruff? I have tried Jason’s and haven’t found it very helpful. I have dry, somewhat thick hair and I have been experiencing hair falling.. Any idea?

  • You forgot Morrocco Method shampoos too! These products are raw, vegan, gluten free, cruelty free, and oh so naturally awesome. They’re based around the 5 elements (Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Ether) and the ideas of detoxifying your scalp and hair then nourishing them back to health! It’s the only way to grow long, luxurious hair.

They even have a Lunar Chart for Hair Cutting where you cut your hair on a certain day of the month to improve one of the five hair goals (Strengthen, Thicken, Lengthen, Beautify, and Root Work). Very cool, check them out!

  • As a part of changing my household to more natural and organic, Ive been testing new shampoo and conditioners, among others products, and rating them on EWG.ORG.
    1. Recently purchased Shea moisture Raw Shea butter shampoo and conditioner. It rates well on It seemed to work well and shiny but I could not tolerate the strong scent.
    2. Today, I purchased and used the coconut and hibiscus curl and shine shampoo and leave in conditioning milk. Also, rates a 1 – safe- on The scent reminds me of a beach and My hair was shiny and combed well. I let my hair air dry as usual. Well, several hours later, smells like sweet coconut but there is an oily look. I’m wondering if I should have rinsed out the conditioner – even if bottle says to leave in. I will give it another try but wash out the conditioner since I seem to like he smell and shine and soft feel.

Has anyone heard of kiss my face ? It rates well on

It is true, we may have to go through a few products until we find one that works with our hair.

  • Got a sample of the Shielo Volume shampoo and conditioner and I swear its the Best thing that ever happened to me!!! I have alot of naturally wavy hair, that I was told was thin…and doesn’t do well in humidity. Ive practically tried every shampoo and conditioner out there and Shielo was IT for me!!!!!! Makes my hair feel soft and silky! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!!!

  • I’m also interested in Kiss My Face – I’m going to order the big body shampoo for thicker hair. I’ll let you know how it goes! I hope I like the lavender and chamomile scent too.

It is rated a 1 on ewg and here are the ingredients: Aqua, C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate, Sodium Chloride (Sea Salt), Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycerin, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice*, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Kernel Oil*, Panthenol (Vitamin B5), Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract*, Seren

  • I am looking into the acure stem cell moisturizing repair shampoo but the conditioner is out of stock. Would it be ok to use acure’s regular daily conditioner or should I just pair up the daily shampoo and daily conditioner?

Note:My hair was extremely thick,curly/wavy. You couldn’t even put a brush through it. Now it is dry and brittle. Thinning out due to constant wearing of hats from when I was 15 -20. (Traction Alopecia)

    • You can definitely pair it with the daily Lemongrass Conditioner as it’s very moisturizing. I just checked and the Moroccan Argan Oil Conditioner is available on one of my favorite sites if you still want to get it.

  • I have very fine and oily hair, i have been facing some dandruff n itchiness as well. I am looking for something which would cure my dandruff and at the same time would make my hair strong and thick. Looking forward for a better suggestion.

A friend who’s been natural for about 4years adviced me at the start of my natural hair journey to get the loreal ever sleek reparative shampoo and conditioner. But now I’m thinking of switching to shea moisture shampoos n conditioner. Is loreal a good line for natural black hair and should I make the switch to shea moisture?

  • Great list and thank you for putting it together in your blog. I’ve been looking for something like this a while now. Have you tried Nature’s Paradise Organics products? They have a a line of organic baby products, too, which I love.

  • Hi, first of all I would like to say that OBT is a wonderful site and a great source of information about Organic and natural stuff for health and beauty. You have listed so many great products at one place, this is the most needed info for many women out there who are facing hair problems. I am one of them, I am from India and had staright, shiny and long hair before but over last 6-7 years I have faced tremendous hair loss. After reading your article I am going to try 100% Pure Shampoo. But it would be great if you could recommend any specific shampoo to me. My hair is frizzy, dull and very very thin. Please suggest.
    Thanks a lot!!

  • hi,

i have been using suave for a while and before i used it my hair was so curly and had a lot of volume and now its not as curly and it is limp. could you suggest what kind i would need? thank you

    • Hi Monica,
Try Acure Organics. If you were using Suave Naturals Coconut Shampoo and Conditioner, you may also like Alba Botanica Coconut Shampoo and Conditioner.

  • Please Help, I am a young white girl and have been struggling for the last few years with severe scalp issues. I get red splotches on the scalp that sometimes burn and itch. This also causes flaking. I have tried so many different products most making the problem worse. The medical shampoos seemed to have worked the best but leave my hair extremely dry and still do not relieve the issue entirely. After doing some research it seems organic maybe the solution. Do you have any suggestions to finally eliminate this issue. I really am desperate for a solution. Thank you

    • i think u may suffer from sebodermatities…..i have the same problem………did u try anything with selenium sulfate to calm down the inflamation……?it is basically the yeast infection causing the problem….to find the proper care is the key!!!its acomplicateted issue long like the river…;)

  • hi, m frm India 21 years old m facing a great hairfall from past few months. Can u jst tel me a shampoo that is available here

  • I have naturally curly hair and it’s been pretty dry lately. I’m used to using Revlon All Soft shampoo and conditioner which makes tangles come out super easy and makes my hair much softer. Everything organic or natural I try seems to leave my hair feeling dry when it’s applied and the tangles won’t come out. I like the feeling of that soft, almost glossy feeling when the conditioner is in that way I can pick out the tangles easily without damage. Nothing has worked well except non-natural products. I have sensitive skin and have been breaking out around my neck and chest. After switching to a organic hair gel, it is better but I’d love to find a shampoo and conditioner as well. Any suggestions for a super soft feeling, highly moisturizing conditioner, that is also good for me and my skin?

  • I am Asian and have thinning hair. I also color my hair. I am looking to change to a natural shampoo and conditioner. Could you recommend a couple on a budget for volume, color protection and smells GREAT, please?

    • Hi Katie! Try Acure Organics, Avalon Organics, EO Products or Alba Botanica. These are all great shampoos on a budget and you can get them on for even cheaper.

  • I like Shea Moisture a lot. I find that the shampoo doesn’t strip my dry, curly hair! Also, I like Giovanni’s conditioners 🙂

  • Salonsolids is 100% plant based, biodegradable, and free from ANY synthetics. Shampoo/Conditioner dry granules delivered in paper packaging to be mixed in reusable bottles at home. This innovation allows the products to be free of any chemical preservatives! Also we use only non-sensitizing, non-irritating, non-allergenic therapeutic essential oils. Let me know if you’d like to try! ,
I also have an ayurevedic herbal cleanser and dry shampoo that are 100% herbal.

  • I’m finally switching over to natural organic products so this list was helpful. I just cant decide what one to get! Naturally medium, straight (slight frizz)hair, color treated red, slightly damaged, super oily on the roots, and dry elsewhere. I’m looking to spend about $15-30/bottle. What would you recommend for myself?

    • Hi Shelby,
Try Acure Organics. I personally love their Volume Mint Shampoo with their Everyday Lemongrass Conditioner. I never have a bad hair day and have been using Acure for about a year every day to every other day. 🙂

  • Hi,

I do an oil treatment(apply coconut oil to hair few hours before shower) atleast once a week, what clean shampoo will create enough lather to remove the oil from my hair as well as clean the scalp?

    Thank you!

  • Hello,

A good friend of mine has been using a natural shampoo and conditioner and she loves it but our hairs completely different. I want to make the switch but not sure which way to go. I have long not to thin or thick hair and right now every shampoo makes it even more oily and dull. Also it goes in a knot so easily it makes me wanna cut it even though I love the length! Any suggestions?! Please help!

    Please & Thank You!

  • Hi. This post is pretty useful for me. I’m running a website related with shampoo for natural, free chemical. I’m impressed about your list of natural shampoo and conditioner. I guess max green and acure shampoo are top 2 of above them. LOL totally my opinion. Anyways, thanks for great information. I will drop by here ofen.

  • Hi! My boyfriend has been making this all-natural shampoo for me for a few months, and I adore it. It’s nourishing and doesn’t strip my hair, plus it makes it soft and shiny. He’s opening an online store since everyone he’s given it to has loved it, and we’re keeping the price down by doing everything ourselves (much lower than most of the prices above!). Consider pre-ordering a sample! 🙂

    • Hi Kate, Unfortunately, the Healthy Skin for a Happy Life website does not have a full ingredient list for their shampoo or conditioner. They also don’t have a way to contact the company. These are serious red flags that there is something wrong with their product or company.

      • They do have all of their ingredients listed for every product, and the website has multiple contact points. What website are you looking at?

  • Hi,
Thank you so much for this post! It is really helpful. I am 26 years old and I am of Indian origin. I have rough, dry hair combined with dry, itchy scalp. Recently, I have been losing a lot of hair. I have tried products with Moroccan Oil, but it has not helped.

Could you help recommend some good hair products that would work for me?

I have fine hair, like baby hair, losing a lot, I’m using one of aveno, free of ammonia. But I want to change to any healthy product, chemical-free. Which do you recommend? Thanks for your help

  • I’m a baby boomer (that means I’m 60+)! My hair is wavy, color treated and tends to frizz. What do you recommend for shampoo & conditioner at a reasonable price?
    Thanks for this great service!!!

  • Hi! This list helps. Please help me! I have been looking for a change for my hair for about six month. My hair has been colored, its greasy, and it is too short. I cut my hair, now I want back my length. I need something natural, because the stuff I’m using is damaging my hair even more. My hair is horrible right now. Please Help!Is there anything you could recommend for my hair. If so Thank You!

  • Hi,
I love that your website is dedicated to organic products, and I found the info in this article very helpful! But can you please recommend a brand/product for these specific things?:

Okay, so the other day I fell in LOVE with the herbal essences shampoo and conditioner descriptions and appearances and promises. Lush, hydrated hair with delicious fragrance? I’m on board! BUT then I did some searching and found some very horrible things about them. Not only are they okay for your hair but they contain so many chemicals and are not completely cruelty free!!

That’s when I remembered organic and natural is the best way to go, and stumbled upon this page.

I know it’s a lot to ask but I’m looking for a product that will improve my hair, make it smell nice, make it healthy, and is 100% organic, vegan, and cruelty free? Basically lush amazing hair that’s very very nice to me, the environment and animals?

I have black thick hair that is 6 inches from my waist? (midway on my chest). It’s very dry and is wavy and a little straight.

    Thanks sooo much!

    • Hi A,
Yes, the ingredients in Herbal Essence Shampoos and Conditioners are quite toxic. Glad you weren’t fooled by the marketing and did your research. Peter Lamas is a great safe and natural alternative. Try the Soy & Baobab Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner ($18 each). For a lower priced alternative, you might try Dessert Essence Coconut Shampoo and Conditioner ($3.97 and $4.67 on, regularly $8.99 each) or Acure Organics ($7.99 each on Vitacost, regularly 10.99 each). Alba Botanica Hawaiian also has some amazing smelling scents! For a completely organic shampoo and conditioner, Josh Rosebrook is lovely and John Masters Organics is quite nice too.

  • I looking for a good product for my hair. My hair is natural and dry(I’m black). I have tried Paul Mitchell Tea Tree shampoo and condition but it still make it dry. I just started using Argan oil but it doesn’t help with the dryness. I also use Dr. Miracle leave in condition but it only helps for a few minutes. I wanted to try the Shea Moisture products. Do you this would be a good product for me. I also use deep condition, and hair mayonnaise and leave it in for 45 minutes to 1 hr. I keep sew-in in my hair because its easy to manage. Can you also give me some tips for that as well. Thanks

  • Hello OBT,

Im very new to this organic world, but im very eager to make all the changes necessary to improve my health. My hair for the past year has been thinning out, losing a lot of it, constantly and im starting to see some bald spots by the sides of my hair including my hairline. Can you please recommend me any haircare products for hair loss, dryness and thinning?? Im scared by the age of 30 i will be bald. 🙁 please help…

  • I have unfortunately bought Jason revitalizing vitamin e pure natural shampoo. This is probably the worst shampoo I have ever tried.
Firstly, this shampoo does not clean. It hardly lathers and I need to use so much of it to get any kind of effect. Then the hair gets a weird texture. I can’t call it greasy because it is extremely dry, but it feels as though there is something clogging up the hair and as dirty as it was prior to washing. Afterwards, it is necessary to use a lot of conditioner because otherwise the hair feels so terribly dry. It has caused me to get dandruff which I have never had before.
So, not only was this shampoo rather expensive, I have used a lot just to get a wash and am having to use a lot of my expensive conditioner on top of this to neutralise, to some degree, the effects of the shampoo.

  • I’m trying to “make the switch” & need help on where to start!! My hair is frizzy/curly & DAMAGED from straightening. Which organic shampoo would be best for me? Something easy to find at most beauty stores?!

  • I have very long black hair. Since 1 year i almost lost 50% of them because of my oily and full of dandruff scalp. i wash my hair and in next two days they become so oily n scalp starts itching. Please suggest a good hair shampoo and conditioner for nice results.

  • The 100% pure line is my favorite. Holly crap even the shampoo bottles are made with plastic that BPA and Phthalate free.

I was also looking at Dr. Alkatis shampoo. $45! I then looked at the ingredients. There are some questionable ones such as 100% pure essential oils. There could be anything in that, there not certified. Also Hydrolyzed Natural Rice Oil which means correct me if I’m wrong contains MSG’s. I’m glad I found the 100% pure line. Awesome company!

Another company that I haven’t tried is Terressentials. They make there shampoo out of mud it the most natural I’ve seen. I’ll be sure to give them a try soon.

  • good list!
What is important in organic shampoos and conditioners is not only that are made from natural ingredients, but also that some of them are completely free of chemical substances. Some of them (parabens, sulfates, compounds “hidden” behind fragrances, etc) may be potentially harmful for human’s health…

  • I saw great results from Healthy Skin for a Happy Life’s all-natural no-poo shampoo. It’s got coconut oil, ACV, jojoba, essential oils, honey… everything you need for clean, great smelling, healthy hair with no additives or chemicals.

My hairdresser can’t believe how fast my hair has been growing since I started using it! It smells good and the company has great ethics 🙂

  • I have very long straight color treated hair that’s become very dry. I want a moisturizing organic shampoo and heavy conditioner but every one I’ve tried is too striping or just adds argon oil to smooth but I swear argan is great for appearances but I think that’s what’s drying it out. Am I crazy? Any tips or recommendations?

  • Great list of shampoos. Looks like this article was written a while back, because now the organic and natural movement towards the beauty industry is finally in full swing 🙂

Regarding your dry hair, have you tried this one?
Maple Holistics shampoo which is all natural. Should work good and uses jojoba oil instead of Argan oil.

  • Hi all.. I am indian.. I have a very silky straight hair.. Only problem is from past few months there is drastic hair loss. The organic shampoo available near my home is shea moisture of which I heard lots of good reviews. So I just want to ask whether that shampoo is good to go with according to my hair??

  • I’ve currently been looking for an organic shampoo but I’m not sure where to even begin. My hair is currently dry and damaged. And I’m trying to repair it and grow my hair out… I don’t feel like it’s even growing:( I’m looking for recommendations on shampoo and conditioner and other natural treatments to help get me the long locks I’m wanting. My hair is kind of thick and curly.. Really curly on the bottom layers an more wavy on the top layers. Any help and recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • Have you ever tried line of products. What is your wash n go hair routine.?How do you preserve the curls?

  • hi, i am an asian and i have a dry and straight hair!I was using pantene and my hair started thinning recently so i am using herbal essentials dangerously straight but still i my hair lose is not seized. can u recomend a shampoo porduct also my hair is looking so dull and lifeless!

  • Hey there. I certainly do love this helpful list.
I used to have relatively thick hair which i mistreated and dyed alot. After drastic weight loss I have lost almost half and my dr says maybe I am having androgenic alopecia.
My hair is oily at the scalf, dry at the ends and especially in the middle of the scalp.
Brittle, frizzy and has no definite style of curly , loose or straight.. It is a mess.
I quitted using shampoos because none is getting to my hair and I already shifted most of ny personal care products to organic/ natural ones.
What shampoo/conditioner/oil might be good for me to start with if you have any recommendations?
    Thanks in advance

    • Try Intelligent Nutrients Harmonic Shampoo, the founder created the firm Aveda but left to set up Intelligent Nutrients. I have fine, coloured, curly & highly porous hair which can’t take hydrolysed wheat protein(gluten) which most conditioners have. It is expensive but I only use a pea amount as I wash my hair every day.

  • Hi! I need some advice on which hair products to use!
I am originally a brunette with soft straqight hair but i dyed my hair blonde. i used high quality hair dye so that my hair wouldn’t be as damaged as when using common hair dyes. However, i have noticed that my hair as been becoming dry and hard to brush (compared to how smooth it was before)
I want to keep the blonde color but i was wondering maybe there is a natural shampoo that would help me??
if available, some advice about hair dyes and hennas would be greatly appreciated.
    thank you!!

  • I usually use Dove daily moisture shampoo and love it… however, it seem to be giving my boyfriend an allergic reaction with rashes and wheezing when I lay next to him at night. I’ve tried some shampoos and conditioners from whole foods that don’t leave my hair feeling as nice and manageable as the Dove but the reactions seemed to stop once I switched to an organic shampoo and conditioner. Has anyone else had this experience and maybe any tips for which brand I should try next?

  • I recently got DermOrganic Shampoo. Any reviews? I have also tried the Theorie Organic Shampoo. It didn’t get great results. I am asian women with thin, wavy and extremely dry and frizzy ends. I also color my hair. Any suggestions for color safe organic shampoo? How long to use before you see results?

  • Hello my name is Amber and my hair is brunette, and more wavy , tends to get oily easily . My hair isn’t necessarily the thickest either . What would you recommend for someone with my type of hair who wants to start using organic products ?

  • Hello, I wanted to see if you could help me. I been looking for a hair product that is organic ingredients with keratin or biotin. My hair aslo get oily very quickly. I really appreciate the help.

    • Hi Kaylie,
Try Josh Rosebrook Shampoo and Conditioner. It’s filled with wonderful organic ingredients and should help to balance out your scalp and make your hair healthier.

  • Hi ladies,

I have made the switch to use natural and organic shampoo for a year now and I love it! However, I’m still struggling to find shampoos that lather enough to remove coconut hair. I’m indian and oil my hair once a week.
Is there any products that you would recommend?

    Thank you for your help!

    • Hi V. For my oily hair I found that “Alkaitis Organic Hair Shampoo for Oily Hair” is doing wonders for my hair. It is one of the best organic shampoos I have used. It hydrates and nourishes my hair, too. You should give this one a try.

  • Hi

    Great information !

I was wondering have you heard of a new product they call the “unshampoo” – they call the product “Purely Perfect Cleansing Creme.” It seems to have very good reviews, Just curious if you have heard of it and what your thoughts are ? Thanks in advance.

  • Hi, thank you so much for this post! It is great. I use Avalon Organics Rosemary Volumizing Shampoo and I really like it. Volumizing wheat protein, vitamin E, chamomile and rosemary deeply cleanse my hair and give volume to my long colored hair.

  • Hello, I am looking for the perfect shampoo for dandruff. I am a 21 yr old male with semi-long thick hair. Would like something that will clean my hair and won’t damage my scalp or cause dandruff to return. Something that I could use daily.

  • Hello 🙂

I’m moroccan so my hair is quite thin and curly and it’s really damaged. I’ve got a few highlights in so it’s damaged from bleach. I’ve realised my hair has thinned and my curls have gone abit weighted and not bouncy as before. My hair looks badly conditioned from the end but the roots feel completely opposite. What do u reckon I should use? Thank youuuy

  • From all the bottles collecting under my sink, I can promise you I have tried EVERY brand of volumizing shampoo on the market. I have tried everything from the cheap dollar store stuff to the most expensive salon stuff. NOTHING has worked as well as Shielo. It cleans all the daily styling gunk from my hair, but it never “strips” it. My hair is never left feeling dry. I have very fine hair that has been thinning from a medication that I have to take. It seems like the Shielo shampoo has slowed the thinning because I think it is removing the residual medication from my scalp. For a volume shampoo, this doesn’t even strip my semi-permanent color either.

  • Hi there! I’m desperately looking for a natural option for specifically blonde shampoo & conditioner.

Thanks in advance for helping out!

    P. S I’m obsessed with your blog it’s so full of goodies discoveries!! Congratulations for your success and spreading the word on natural organic life. Thanks for all the tips!

  • Hello, little background on my hair, I am a natural blonde, but didn’t have hair until I was three, I had all natural hair until I put highlights in it when I was little and then dyed it a few times, but my roots kept getting in the way, so I am now 13 and I have dyed my hair 10 times. I recently realized how bad my hair was though, it has no volume, its brittle and dry, and the amount of dandruff I have is insane. After realizing the damage of my hair I instantly cut it, thinking that would help drastically, but it didn’t and my shoulder length hair was frizzy and horrible looking, so i frantically looked online in search for something to fix my disastrous hair. I found some things I liked…but didn’t have the money for most things, I talked my mother into getting me some olive oil and it has helped a little bit, but not very much like I hoped, and I cut out my straightener hoping the less heat on my hair the better, that made my hair look worse but I can see a good change in it, I also changed my diet, trying to eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, and I make sure to drink a bunch of water everyday, I also don’t keep my hair up in a bun as much. Although I realized, I have used the same shampoo for a year now, and that shampoo I used was not organic and had sulfates in it, I read on one of the websites I looked on that that’s really bad for your hair, I instantly threw it in the trash but I’m looking to find what shampoo to use now, and any other advice anyone could give me for my hair. I constantly have to keep my hair from peoples sight, because it looks horrible unless its wet. Please help!!

  • Agree with some of these, disagree with others. John Masters is not all too organic in the true sense of the word. Acure is a great product . Honestly can’t even pronounce half the products in their ingredients. Carina Organics should have been on – or added to – this list ( as should dr. bonnar’s Aubrey used to be soooo good, but the quality seems to have dropped down as of late. Does anyone know if dr. haushka is looking at coming out with a shampoo?

  • I’ve switched to all natural shampoos, because the sulphates and other chemicals have been making my scalp itchy. However all of the “organic/earth friendly” products I’ve tried left me hair either dry, unclean or a complete tangled mess. After doing some research. the Somaluxe Shampoo (Clarify & Restore) came highly recommended for being hair friendly. I had my Somaluxe products within a few days of ordering them – it shampoo rinsed clean leaving my hair soft and nourished. I followed up with the conditioner. Both Somaluxe products left my hair looking and feeling healthier. Great! Natural ingredients that really work.

  • Hi I have fine, thin brittle shoulder length hair. I do get highlights put in as i am very grey. I’ve tried making my own natural shampoo’s but my hair ends up greasy and looking awful. I tried baking soda, it broke my hair really bad. What would you recommend for a natural shampoo/conditioner? I love having clean hair but i don’t wash it everyday, more like every 3 or 4 days.

  • For awhile now I’ve wanted to switch to an all natural shampoo, because the sulphates and other chemicals have been making my scalp itchy. However all of the “organic/earth friendly” products I’ve tried left me hair either dry, unclean or a complete tangled mess. After doing some research The Somaluxe Clarifying Shampoo came highly recommended for being earth and hair friendly. The shampoo rinsed clean leaving my hair soft and nourished. I followed up with the Somaluxe Conditioner. Both products left my hair looking and feeling healthier. Great! Natural ingredients that really work. They really are an outstanding value.

  • Hi. I used to have black hair. Year ago I dyed my hair from then my hair become frizzy, red and thin. I can see thinning hair line all over my head. I have prolactin problem as well. Could you please suggest best organic shampoo to regain hair at the thinning places.

  • Hi.. I used to have thick black curly hair. Due to prolactin problem my hair starts thinning and become frizzy. Year ago I dyed my hair. Now I have thin hair lines all over my head. Could you please suggest me best organic shampoo to regain my thick hair.

  • Colored hair – I read through most of these and didn’t see anything that specifically mentioned colored hair. Do all these lines have a product for that? I’ve read all the DIY options, but can’t seem to find an answer relative to even a tiny amount of apple cider vinegar as a rinse stripping the color. My hair is medium, fine, and straight…..and colored with Garnier Olia
    Thank you
